                 Chinese Society of Toxicology

The Chinese Society of Toxicology£¨CST£© is the highest community of Toxicology science in China, and is composed of scientific and technical workers in the field of toxicology. The CST was founded in November 10, 1993, is one of the national organizations affiliated to the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), registered in the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People¡¯s Republic of China. The CST is the member of the International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX) as well as the Asian Society of Toxicology£¨ASIATOX£©. The major aim of CST is to extensively mobilize, unite and serve the toxicologists all over China, push forward the development and prosperity of toxicology science in China, and promote the career growth of toxicology professionals and young talents.

With the leadership of the Standing Committee of CST council, the CST has made a great rapidly progression on its development. By the end of 2018, the CST has 28 affiliated professional committees (Specialty Sections), more than 15,000 individual members, 185 group-members and 8 provincial branches. 50 % of the individual members are senior toxicologists with high- grade professional titles. The members are from the universities, research institutes, hospitals, national and regional centers for disease control and prevention (CDC), toxicology-related government administrations, health supervision authorities, etc.

The CST Council changes every four years, and the council members are from the outstanding experts and scholars working in the area of toxicology all over the country and there are elected in the National Congress of CST Members Representatives. The National Toxicology Congress organized by Chinese Society of Toxicology (NTCCST) is the highest level of toxicology academic events, that is held every 2 years£¨every 4 years before 2013) in China mainland. Up to now, Eight NTCCST have already been organized by CST. The CST also organizes its Youth Forum if Science and Technology every two years. The Cross-Strait Toxicology Forum is held every 2 years of since 2001 by the CST in cooperation with the Chinese Taiwan Society of Toxicology. Various types of continuing education training courses are held each year, and national academic and professional conferences and training courses are also organized by each of the Specialty Sections and the Provincial Branches every 1-2 years.

Toxicology Research is the official journal of the CST, launched in 2012 jointly with the British Toxicology Society (BTS) and Royal Society of Chemistry, UK.

The CST carried out the Diplomat of Certified Toxicologist (DCST) from 2008. Qualification certification examination is held nationwide each year.
304 DCSTs have been certified. We are actively participating in and promoting the international mutual recognition from International Union of Toxicology. It is expected to make the first batch of IRT (IUTOX Recognized Toxicologist) which a member of DCST.

A series of international academic conferences were held successfully, such as the 5th Congress of Toxicology in Developing Countries (2003 in Guilin), the 4th International Congress of Asian society of Toxicology (2006, in Zhuhai), the Forum and Training of Risk Assessment held in cooperation with IUTOX. 2010 International Conference on Biomedical and Environmental Science and Technology (icBEST) was held in Beijing. In 2016, the Toxicology and Safety Evaluation Seminar / project leader training has been Co-sponsored by American College of Toxicology (ACT) and CST.

The CST looks forward to further closely cooperation with IUTOX, all professionals, academic groups and organizations and make greater contributions to the development of toxicology, protect human health and ecological environment.

Activities and Tasks of the CST

1.Organize toxicology congresses and other academic events.
2.Continuing education training courses.
3.Popularize toxicology science and knowledge in the public.
4.Academic publications.
5.Undertake some functions releasted by government, provide academic professional consultation and social entrusted services.
6.Award ¡°China Outstanding Contribution Award in Toxicology¡± and ¡°Excellent Youth Science and Technology Award¡±, and recommend Excellent Toxicology Talents.
7.Certify Diplomat of Certified Toxicologist.
8.Conduct international ioxicology academic exchange and talent exchange.
9.Provide members with other career development activities, and so on.
